The International Department is located at the heart of the busy downtown area of Karlsruhe within sight of the campus and the baroque residence. All university facilities such as institutes, laboratories, libraries and offices are easily accessible on foot or by cycle.
It is accommodated in a historical building which used to house Government offices. In 1998, it was conversed and renovated to bring it up to modern standards. Today, it is a bright and friendly place to learn and live in. Apart from the students’ residence, the International Department also hosts a lecture hall and seminar rooms. There are work, music and community rooms as well as a cafeteria with an open-air terrace. It also contains a number of apartments for university staff, thus encouraging closer contact between students and lecturers outside the normal teaching routine. To ensure the best possible support, the building also accommodates the International Department’s administration and management. Contact persons are therefore available for students at any time.
